Specialized residential programs are especially tailored to the demands of teenagers, expectant or postpartum women as well as their reliant children, those under guidance by the criminal justice system, or public inebriates for whom considerable treatment has not functioned (American Psychiatric Organization, 1995; Landry, 1996). Intensive outpatient therapy requires a minimum of 9 hours of regular presence, normally in increments of 3 to 8 hrs a day for 5 to 7 days a week.
